About Pop! Heights Park

Far South Community Development Corporation, along with their partners, developed this community park and celebrated the grand opening on October 29th, 2022. Designed by Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC), POP! Heights Park is located along the busy South Halsted commercial corridor between 112th and 113th Streets (11227 South Halsted) and provides 21,780 square feet of multi-use outdoor space for Far South Side communities including Roseland, Morgan Park and West Pullman. Sheldon Heights Church of Christ owns the land and are integral partners in the project. Butler Frelix Construction performed the site work and construction.

Pop! Heights Park was funded by Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot’s Chicago Recovery Plan with support from the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) and the Department Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE). Pop! Heights Park is one of 12 new public plazas that will create spaces for recreation, performances, pop-up shops, gardening, and other neighborhood activities at strategic locations across Chicago through the Public Outdoor Plaza (POP!) program.
